Y’ALL ARE SERIOUSLY SLEEPING ON BLOG
If we had a dollar for every time we brought up blogging and the response was, “ugh, does it really matter?” We’d be so rich we wouldn’t be writing this newsletter; we’d literally be retired, sitting on a beach in Hawaii. Blog will never not matter. Blogging is an extremely effective way to drive traffic, create passive income, and educate your audience. Blogging is often associated with mommy bloggers and is totally overlooked. Well, guess what? The “mommy bloggers” have hella traffic. AND there isn’t a single successful eComm business we’ve worked with that doesn’t have competitive Search Traffic, fueled by blog content.
THE Benefits of Blogging
Blog 🤝 SEO: This is the obvious answer, but it’s about MORE than just placing keywords strategically throughout a piece of content. One of Google’s favorite variables to consider when deciding which websites to show on the first page is how active they are. By producing regular blog content, you’re showing Google that your website is alive and well. Google also wants to share valuable, high-quality content to its searchers. To be considered, you have to make it.
Blog 🤝 Every other digital channel: Because blogs are long-form content, it does an excellent job at feeding your other channels. One blog can create multiple social posts and highly-engaged email campaigns. If we create blogs on the reg, we’re helping create consistency and compelling storytelling everywhere else.
Blog 🤝 Sales: A well-executed blog should only AMPLIFY your selling experience and bring ideal customers lower in the funnel. Having impactful blog content that answers relevant FAQs or common concerns your customers have before engaging with your product/service can help them become more confident about purchasing your offering. Thoughtful content that educates what your brand or company is about creates legitimacy and authority.
how do I start a blog?
Sitting down to write a blog can feel a lot like sitting down to write that paper in college that you’ve known about all semester but purposely ignored until the last second because you don’t know where to start. The overall vibe is, “I have no idea what to write.”
Getting a simple keyword analysis can help generate dozens of blog concepts that can also help your website rank on Google. The good news? You know two gals who do this for a living. The better news? Even if you don’t have the budget right now to get an analysis done all you need is 10 seconds to generate your first five blog ideas.
Take the next 10 seconds and write down your most frequently asked questions. This should be a mix of questions your current customer already asks you on the reg and questions that your most educated customer should ask you before purchasing your product or service.
Make each of those questions their own blog. BOOM.
How to Utilize Chatgbt for Blogging
ChatGBT has quite literally entered the chat.
An incredible thing AI has done is made blog content that much more attainable for business owners and marketing professionals who don’t have the time to sit down and write 1,500-2,000 word pieces or can’t afford outsourced professional writing support.
We’re firm believers that using AI can benefit your business, especially when done well! ChatGBT’s output is only as good as the briefs provided to it. Experiment briefing ChatGBT with your FAQ blog concept ideas and read its output.
What ChatGBT hasn’t quite nailed yet is infusing your content with a strong brand voice and tone. We recommend taking the time to write branded pieces that are core to who you are and how you talk about what you do. Or, use ChatGBT for a shitty rough draft, then go through and edit it heavily. The black and white stuff? See what ChatGBT can do for you.

Watch Rachel’s video about blogging and get jazzed about using this strategy. And now for our favorite blog analogy: The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the next best time is today 🌳💫 The same is for blogging.
Using Blog to Drive Social SEO
Recently in our article “Post The Silly Little Video,” we told you how TikTok wasn’t trying to compete with other social media platforms but instead is trying to compete with Google to become the largest search engine in the world.
This isn’t just true for TikTok, this is the goal for vertical video as a content format.
Brands are leveraging the keywords they’ve infused into their blog content and are repackaging that into vertical videos that are optimized with the same keywords. How brands are doing this effectively:
Visuals: Using graphics, crowdsourced content, or video visuals to directly answer a keyworded question. Here’s an example from Dieux Skin, How Long Will Deliverance Serum Last Me?
Listicles: Rounding up lifestyle content that aligns with your brand / product. When it comes to blogging, this is usually adjacent to what you’re selling but naturally incorporates how your product or service applies. Think: X Tools to Help Make Strong Social Content or an exact example from Canopy Humidifiers, 4 Tips to Improve Your Nighttime Skincare Routine
Face to camera: Having someone on camera directly answering questions you’re used to getting! The founder of Poppi Soda does this frequently on their TikTok, here’s her breaking down Why Poppi Soda is Good for You.
